A Man Called Slim

I just found out that a man called Slim passed away today
I will miss him, you see, as it is quite clear to me
That an extraordinary man like Slim cannot pass through life unnoticed
He was clever and funny, and, either had something witty to say
Or just listened in his own polite way

I can’t begin to tell you what he meant to me
A father, through words, he will always be
Expressing his opinions and sharing his thoughts were times I cherish
Not only because I found something special in his words
But because he made me think of the big things in life... the things that really matter

I’m amazed when I cross paths with someone like Slim
I will always treasure the time when I got to know him
As I sit here and write, I smile at the thought of him and
How happy he was...

From someone who never grew up with a mother and father
I’ll remember Dorothy and Slim with great fondness
They showed me such genuine kindness
